STONE NFC READER

  • Client: Inter-American Development Bank
  • Industry: Medical Equipment
  • Period: 2015
Stone was developed under Salud Mesoamérica’s 2015 program, an Inter-American Development Bank initiative aimed to improve public health quality across 8 countries of Central America.
Under this program, public clinics and hospitals are replacing standard hand-written carnets with the Health Electronic Card, which features an embedded chip that securely stores patients’ full medical record. This not only assists patients in a faster way, but allows information to be accessed, held and managed across the entire Public Health Care System.
By the use of design and taking into consideration aspects like portability, aesthetic, context and its comercial values, we developed Stone, a product that brings an added advantage across a multi-national Public Health Care System by making use of NFC technology specifically developed to support the Health Electronic Card, enhancing patients’ experience in an efficient, low-cost process, and providing support for a better administration of data.
NFC – Near Field Communication is a wireless short-range high frequency communication technology that allows data exchange between devices.
